Tangy Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Quick Notes: This is a super simple stir-fry with a little heat and a lot of flavor. Tangy Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry is an easy weeknight dinner while also being tasty enough that you could serve it to friends. I use shaved steak, but you could definitely pick up some stir-fry meat, or cut your own from skirt steak or a nicer cut of beef.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shaved steak
  • 1 lb broccoli crowns, chopped into bite sized pieces
  • 2 anaheim peppers, chopped
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped with the whites separated from the greens
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup teryiaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • sesame seeds
  • cooked rice for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a wok or deep frying pan, bring the vegetable oil to temperature over medium-high heat.
  2. In a saucepan on another burner, add your broth, teriyaki, honey, and sesame oil to medium heat, stirring consistently.  Remove once the honey has melted into the rest of the sauce.
  3. Add your garlic, anaheims, the white parts of your green onions, and the broccoli to the wok. Stir fry together for about 3 minutes.
  4. Move the veggies to the side and add your meat to the middle.  If you're using shaved steak it will begin to brown very quickly.  Once that happens, stir your veggies back in and cook together for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Stir your sauce into the stir fry and stir until everything is fully coated.  Remove from heat.
  6. Serve over rice (or noodles, or whatever) and top with green onions and sesame seeds.

Serve with a side of these Veggie Eggrolls.
